FAQ: How can I talk to my Doctor about CBD?

It is the duty of the healthcare professional to ask nonjudgmental assessment questions about Cannabis use, provide unbiased information, and help guide the patient to use it wisely. Physicians currently cannot prescribe CBD, however the better informed they are, the more they can help improve adherence to healthy behaviors.

As a doctor, important considerations for medicinal CBD use includes:

•Be open and non-judgmental in the dialogue with patients to keep communication open

• Be aware of the legal issues in your state • Provide legitimate and fair websites and clinical education to patients to research on their own

 • Help patients be aware of drug to plant interactions, side effects and risks of addiction.

• Set goals and safety parameters if using CBD products

• Consider a treatment agreement

 • Be mindful of addiction, abuse and mental health issues

As a patient, you should consider:

• Use a CBD product made from organically grown hemp

• Look for full or broad spectrum CBD

• Require transparency from your CBD company

• Keep CBD products out of reach of children

• Ask for test results and studies from manufacturers

• Utilize Independent Certifications when comparing product companies

 • Look for companies that test for pesticides and heavy metals

FAQ: How Could CBD help my Social Anxiety?

Here, we report the case of a 20-year-old man with severe social anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, insomnia and attenuated psychotic symptoms despite ongoing treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy and mirtazapine who was treated with adjunctive cannabidiol (CBD) in doses between 200 and 800 mg/day for 6 months.

During treatment with CBD, he experienced subjective benefits to his anxiety, depression and positive symptoms during treatment that were confirmed by clinicians and by standardized research instruments.

Findings from this case study add to existing evidence in support of the safety of CBD and suggest that it may be useful for young people with treatment refractory anxiety and for attenuated psychotic symptoms.

FAQ: How does CBD affect Brain Health & Strokes?

“Cannabinoids and Blood–Brain Barrier (BBB): The BBB works as an effective border between the Central Nervous System, and systemic circulation & microglia represents the main line of defense of the brain. When neuroinflammation occurs, the BBB protective function can be reduced by an inflammatory reaction from an immune-related cells involvement.

The BBB is prone to the consequences due to chronic systemic inflammation as it leads to brain inflammation and consequently can impair its integrity.

In this context, interest has grown about the cannabinoids as potential anti-inflammatory drugs. These findings suggest that CBD could be part of a new strategic approach useful to treat inflammatory diseases of [Central Nervous System] indicating that CBD might be useful for the positive modulation of the BBB as a future treatment in ischemic stroke.”

FAQ: What are Terpenes & how can they help our Health?

Let’s Talk Terpenes! The many pleasant terpenes not only impart flavor and aroma, but also offer healing properties. These terpenes are widely represented elsewhere in nature in aromatic foods, spices, and tree resins, including broccoli, citrus fruits, mangoes, beer, basil, rosemary, cinnamon, and oregano. Here’s a quick overview:

🌿 Alpha-pinene terpenes are said to help enhance focus and memory. They are also thought to have bronchodilator, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties.

🌿 Linalool (lavender) is a sedative, anti-epileptic, and analgesic that also can help reduce anxiety.

🌿 Myrcene (mango) is analgesic, muscle-relaxing, and antibiotic.

🌿 Beta-caryophyllene (clove), known as the “happy” terpene, reduces anxiety, lifts spirits, and acts as an antioxidant and antimicrobial.

🌿 Limonene (lemon peel) improves mood, reduces anxiety and depression, and boosts immunity.

All True Natural Oils products contain large, quantifiable amounts of cannabinoids. This can be verified by looking at the independent lab test results posted on our website. It is very important to check lab reports before purchasing CBD products. We provide ours by scanning the QR code on the side of your box!

Terpenes extracted from cannabis offer a wide range of benefits when combined with CBD. In fact, when terpenes work together with CBD, they create a stronger effect. They deliver a richer experience by producing this synergistic phenomenon known as the Entourage Effect. Think of it as a treat to yourself!

To fully grasp this concept, think of human interactions in the business world. Some people have particular gifts or special abilities that allow them to excel in a subject or a field. Sometimes, these people meet other individuals who have a different set of skills. When alliances are formed between these two groups of people, and abilities are combined, progress can be made that were otherwise improbable.

FAQ: How can CBD help my Stress Levels?

Modern-day science continues to show the link between Stress & Disease. Stress can be defined as any experience that causes tension, whether that be physical, psychological, or emotional- and especially if it sets off the “fight or flight” response – during which the adrenal gland releases adrenaline, leading to rapid pulse and breathing, and increased blood pressure).

“Chronic stress result [in] failures of homeostasis, [and] thus lead to various diseases such as atherosclerosis, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and depression. However, while 75%–90% of human diseases is related to the activation of stress system, the common pathways between stress exposure and pathophysiological processes underlying disease is still debatable.

Chronic inflammation is an essential component of chronic diseases. Additionally, accumulating evidence suggested that excessive inflammation plays critical roles in the pathophysiology of the stress-related diseases, yet the basis for this connection is not fully understood.” this paper publishes.

In previous blog posts, we have spoken widely about CBD’s potential in regulating inflammation and returning the body to homeostasis. We have even shown how CBD acts in a similar way as antidepressants as it works on the serotonin (5HT)1a receptor. Serotonin deficiency is associated with depression and other psychiatric disorders, and it is likely that the effects CBD has on mood and anxiety are related to this interaction.

FAQ: How do I know how much CBD to take?

“I DON’T REALLY FEEL ANYTHING DIFFERENT.” This is heard so many times among CBD users who are concerned about their dose being low at first. More than likely, too low! And then, consequently, they don’t follow up with what their “sweet spot dose” of CBD truly is. Please read to discover the true dose your body is prepared to receive:

True Natural Oils offers different CBD oils with various strengths. Hence, one drop of full-spectrum CBD oil with 750 mg of CBD concentration is not the same as one drop of full-spectrum CBD oil with 3000mg of CBD. When choosing the best dosage for you, there are some things to be considered.

For example, the CBD concentration in each CBD oil bottle, the user’s body weight and the condition that is to be treated. Even after determining these factors, there is still no ‘one-size-fits-all’ type of dosage. One option is to consume 1-6mg of CBD for every 10 pounds of body weight or to start. You may also consider a trial period where you would determine the most suitable dosage for you.

In comparison, the only FDA approved CBD – Epidiolex – is dosed as follows. Median dose is 12.5 mg/kg given twice daily. Maximum dose is 25 mg/kg given daily. For the median dose, if you weigh 150 pounds then 852 mg of CBD given twice daily would be FDA recommended. Now that is not a feasible dosage for general relief of pain or anxiety. It would require many ml’s of the oils to achieve this dosage.

What I would like to point out is that the FDA deems that dosage as a safe treatment dosage. Always consult with a doctor or contact the provider to get more information and some tips. You could experience tiredness, diarrhea or lightheadedness if your dosage is off. In some cases, there might be a change in weight as well. *This is not medical advice.*

FAQ: Can CBD affect my Heart Health & Blood Pressure?

The Month of February is all about Hearts. It is designated as Heart Health Month in the US, a time when all people can focus on their cardiovascular health.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of mortality worldwide. They have a set of characteristic molecular components, such as a proinflammatory profile present in heart failure (HF), diabetic cardiomyopathy, and autoimmune myocarditis.

All of these molecular components associated with diverse CVDs can be modulated with Cannabinoid administration. Of particular interest of the Cannabinoids present in Cannabis, which is also produced within our bodies, has been CBD.

CBD is a potent anti-inflammatory and reduces the production of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species, thus resulting in reduced tissue injury. Such effects can be taken advantage of in varied diseases, such as cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, pain, obesity, and metabolic syndrome.

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is often called the ‘silent killer’ because most people who have it don’t have any symptoms. This can be a scary notion if we let it be, but we can also choose to take care of our bodies by making healthy choices to maintain our overall wellness.

A recent 2017 study on cardiac parameters in healthy males showed that subjects who had taken CBD, as opposed to a placebo, experienced lower blood pressure when exposed to stress.

In a 2009 study on rats, they were subjected to stressful situations, which in turn increased their heart rate and blood pressure. When the rats were then given a dose of CBD, their blood pressure and heart rate lowered.

It is proven high blood pressure can lead to stroke, heart attack, vision loss and kidney disease. However, we have now seen how CBD can be of great value as a cardioprotective agent due to its potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

As advocates in the CBD industry, our team is pleased to see many clinical studies employing the use of CBD as potential treatments of such destructive diseases. We also know encourage our community to remember that CBD is not a cure-all, though it can help. A balanced diet, mindset, and lifestyle are just as important in maintaining a healthy body and a health heart.

Thank you for letting us share this information with you. As always, this is not Medical Advice. Consult your trusted health professional, especially if you are on any prescribed medication.

FAQ: Could CBD help my Anxiety?

It is suggested that CBD could be helpful in the treatment of anxiety and stress by many clinical trials and organizations such as this report by the WHO. Note the many benefits attributed to CBD oil—everything from curing insomnia and improving glaucoma, to reducing inflammation and lessening ANXIETY.

CBD has a broad pharmacological profile, including interactions with several receptors known to regulate fear and anxiety-related behaviors, specifically the CB1 receptor, the serotonin 5-HT1A receptor, and the transient receptor potential (TRP) vanilloid type 1 (TRPV1)receptor.

Thus, maintaining the balance between CB1 receptors and TRPV1 channel activation is crucial for regulating anxiety.
