As we age, we can experience slower metabolism, increased likelihood of polypharmacy, cognitive decline and chronic physical/mental health problems.
CBD has no intoxicating effects or abuse liability, and because of its widespread activity in the Endocannabinoid System in the body, it has been proposed to be beneficial therapeutically for a variety of health conditions in people of all ages.
Generally, older adults suffer from more chronic medical and mental health conditions (eg, chronic pain, insomnia, and mood and cognitive disorders) than younger adults. Experts say CBD use will continue to gain momentum in the health and wellness world, with some scientific studies confirming it may ease symptoms of ailments like chronic pain, inflammation, and anxiety.
Here, we report the case of a 20-year-old man with severe social anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, insomnia and attenuated psychotic symptoms despite ongoing treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy and mirtazapine who was treated with adjunctive cannabidiol (CBD) in doses between 200 and 800 mg/day for 6 months.
During treatment with CBD, he experienced subjective benefits to his anxiety, depression and positive symptoms during treatment that were confirmed by clinicians and by standardized research instruments.
Findings from this case study add to existing evidence in support of the safety of CBD and suggest that it may be useful for young people with treatment refractory anxiety and for attenuated psychotic symptoms.

Let’s Talk Terpenes! The many pleasant terpenes not only impart flavor and aroma, but also offer healing properties. These terpenes are widely represented elsewhere in nature in aromatic foods, spices, and tree resins, including broccoli, citrus fruits, mangoes, beer, basil, rosemary, cinnamon, and oregano. Here’s a quick overview:
🌿 Alpha-pinene terpenes are said to help enhance focus and memory. They are also thought to have bronchodilator, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties.
🌿 Linalool (lavender) is a sedative, anti-epileptic, and analgesic that also can help reduce anxiety.
🌿 Myrcene (mango) is analgesic, muscle-relaxing, and antibiotic.
🌿 Beta-caryophyllene (clove), known as the “happy” terpene, reduces anxiety, lifts spirits, and acts as an antioxidant and antimicrobial.
🌿 Limonene (lemon peel) improves mood, reduces anxiety and depression, and boosts immunity.

Terpenes extracted from cannabis offer a wide range of benefits when combined with CBD. In fact, when terpenes work together with CBD, they create a stronger effect. They deliver a richer experience by producing this synergistic phenomenon known as the Entourage Effect. Think of it as a treat to yourself!
To fully grasp this concept, think of human interactions in the business world. Some people have particular gifts or special abilities that allow them to excel in a subject or a field. Sometimes, these people meet other individuals who have a different set of skills. When alliances are formed between these two groups of people, and abilities are combined, progress can be made that were otherwise improbable.
Modern-day science continues to show the link between Stress & Disease. Stress can be defined as any experience that causes tension, whether that be physical, psychological, or emotional- and especially if it sets off the “fight or flight” response – during which the adrenal gland releases adrenaline, leading to rapid pulse and breathing, and increased blood pressure).
“Chronic stress result [in] failures of homeostasis, [and] thus lead to various diseases such as atherosclerosis, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and depression. However, while 75%–90% of human diseases is related to the activation of stress system, the common pathways between stress exposure and pathophysiological processes underlying disease is still debatable.
Chronic inflammation is an essential component of chronic diseases. Additionally, accumulating evidence suggested that excessive inflammation plays critical roles in the pathophysiology of the stress-related diseases, yet the basis for this connection is not fully understood.” this paper publishes.
In previous blog posts, we have spoken widely about CBD’s potential in regulating inflammation and returning the body to homeostasis. We have even shown how CBD acts in a similar way as antidepressants as it works on the serotonin (5HT)1a receptor. Serotonin deficiency is associated with depression and other psychiatric disorders, and it is likely that the effects CBD has on mood and anxiety are related to this interaction.
It is suggested that CBD could be helpful in the treatment of anxiety and stress by many clinical trials and organizations such as this report by the WHO. Note the many benefits attributed to CBD oil—everything from curing insomnia and improving glaucoma, to reducing inflammation and lessening ANXIETY.
CBD has a broad pharmacological profile, including interactions with several receptors known to regulate fear and anxiety-related behaviors, specifically the CB1 receptor, the serotonin 5-HT1A receptor, and the transient receptor potential (TRP) vanilloid type 1 (TRPV1)receptor.
Thus, maintaining the balance between CB1 receptors and TRPV1 channel activation is crucial for regulating anxiety.
According to consumers of our CBD products, the symptoms alleviated include anxiety, insomnia, low mood and joint pain. Many of these symptoms coincide with the pains brought on by menopause.
CBD may help increase overall amount of sleep, and improve insomnia, according to research. CBD has also been shown to reduce insomnia in people who suffer from chronic pain & PTSD.
Two cannabinoid receptors are known to exist in the human body: CB1 and CB2 receptors. The CB1 receptors are located mainly in the brain and modulate neurotransmitter release in a manner that (1) prevents excessive neuronal activity, thus calming and decreasing anxiety; (2) reduces pain; (3) decreases inflammation; (4) regulates movement and posture control; and (5) controls sensory perception, memory, and cognitive function.
