FAQ: What is Whole Plant Extract, Broad Spectrum & CBD Isolate?

The whole plant refers to the entire bud with some leaves and possibly some stems. The buds are what is used to obtain extracts that are being compared to the isolated, pure CBD or THC cannabinoids.

Fullspectrum CBD is full of all the terpenes, cannabinoids, flavonoids, and fatty acids found in hemp, all of which have therapeutic value of their own and help create what’s know as the entourage effect. Broadspectrum CBD is a little bit of both. Broadspectrum CBD is fullspectrum CBD without any THC.

Full spectrum CBD quite simply means the product contains many cannabinoids beyond CBD, along with other elements of the cannabis or hemp plant, including naturally-occurring terpenes, essential vitamins, fatty acids, protein, and more.

It’s worth emphasizing that CBD itself is entirely non-psychoactive. While full spectrum oil contains small amounts of THC, it does not contain enough THC to produce any psychoactive effects.

The alternative to full spectrum is CBD isolate which contains only CBD – the CBD molecule is chemically isolated from everything else in the plant. CBD isolate is cannabidiol isolated and then refined to strip out any additional cannabinoids, terpenes, and plant components found in the hemp plant. The final product is a fine white powder that contains around 99% cannabidiol.

CBD isolates have no identifiable amount of THC, the well-known chemical found in cannabis that creates that euphoric high, and they’re stripped of the other beneficial and nutritional compounds like terpenes, flavonoids, vitamins, and protein mentioned above.

FAQ: How Far Back in History does Using Cannabis Medicinally Go?

It is hard to credit any certain civilization for the exact first use of Cannabis, but it is worth noting that in the first culture to develop a practical form of writing, Cannabis is referenced: The Sumerians (southern Mesopotamia or Iraq) in around 3000 BC.⁣

⁣The earliest Medicinal evidence of the plant is dated to 2800 BCE from the Chinese medical compilation, Pen Ts’ao. Chinese emperor Shen-Nung, referred to as the father of Chinese medicine, prescribed chu-ma (the female THC-producing Cannabis plant, as opposed to the male ma). He even went so far as to deem it one of the “Superior Elixirs of Immortality” (Bennett, 2010).⁣

Chinese Surgeon Hua T’o, who according to the Records of Three Kingdoms (c. AD 270) and the Book of the Later Han (c. AD 430), performed surgery almost 2000 years ago under general anesthesia using a formula he had developed by mixing wine with a mixture of herbal extracts that he called mafeisan, with ma referring to cannabis, fei referring to boiling, and san referring to breaking up or scattering . This word is likely where the modern-day term “morphine” originates.

FAQ: Is it Safe to Drink Alcohol while Taking CBD?

Alcohol has been shown to cause damage to the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain, in particular by inducing neuroinflammatory mediators and/or oxidative stress. These brain regions are known to be associated with problem solving, attention, information processing, learning, and memory.

Since CBD has neuroprotective effects that prevent oxidative damage, it has been considered for the treatment of cognitive impairments caused by alcohol. These effects of CBD have been hypothesized to be mediated by the 5HT1A (serotonin), or CB2 receptors.

These exciting results have been reported to support the potential therapeutic benefits of CBD for Alcohol Use Disorder, particularly in the areas of neurodegeneration, hepatotoxicity (chemical-driven liver damage), and  cognition.  Additionally, CBD can have a therapeutic effect in alcoholic liver diseases characterized by inflammation, oxidative stress, and steatosis.

There are several proposed mechanisms through which cannabinoids (and CBD in particular) may confer beneficial effects in the context of Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD). First, CBD may directly impact specific brain mechanisms underlying AUD to influence alcohol consumption and the clinical features of AUD.

Second, CBD may influence AUD symptoms through its actions across the digestive, immune, and central nervous systems, collectively known as the microbiota-gut-brain axis (MGBA). These MGBA disruptions have been associated with AUD symptoms such as craving and impaired cognitive control.

Furthermore, Preclinical data suggest that cannabinoids may confer beneficial effects on the gastrointestinal and immune system. These findings include reducing intestinal permeability, regulating gut bacteria, and reducing inflammation. Thus, cannabinoids may exert AUD harm-reduction effects, at least in part, through their beneficial actions across the MGBA.

Not to mention the effects alcohol has on dehydration. Electrolytes are what our bodies need to absorb water and remain hydrated. When people drink alcohol or caffeine, or exercise, not only do they become more dehydrated, but any water consumed after is not as effective due to a low balance of electrolytes.  Insufficient electrolyte replenishment is a leading cause of why over 75 percent of people are chronically dehydrated.

FAQ: What Should I Look for in CBD Products?

When it comes to CBD products, quality is EVERYTHING. In this rapidly growing industry there are many companies basically selling lessor quality oil slapped with a label claiming to be “high-quality CBD.”⁣

⁣In an industry saturated with imposters, it’s important to find companies you can trust and who actually sell a product that works. True Natural Oils is one of these companies.

⁣Extraction method of Cannabinoids from the Cannabis plant is a critical step in the process that can make or break the availability of Cannabinoids in your product. ⁣⁣Using the most advanced extraction equipment and technology, each batch of True Natural CBD oil is CO2 extracted at low temperatures. These low temperatures ensure that the extraction process is safe and gentle, preserving all the beneficial cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids that are naturally present in high-quality CBD oil.⁣

⁣Full-spectrum extraction methods mean that you, the consumer, are presented with a CBD oil that stands up to its claims. Full-spectrum CBD oils are known to contain other cannabinoids, terpenes, essential oils, and amino acids that work in harmony to create beneficial effects. This is known as the entourage effect.

Each batch is carefully monitored and tested throughout the entire extraction process, then sent to a third-party lab for further testing. True Natural Oils takes pride not only in the quality of our product, but in being completely transparent and open to anyone who wants to look at our current third-party test results posted on our website.⁣

FAQ: Does it Matter How I Take my CBD?

Yes.  For optimal drug delivery, the buccal (cheek) and sublingual (under the tongue) dosage forms must remain in contact with oral mucosa for a time of 60 to 90 seconds.⁣

A common problem associated with trans mucosal administration via the buccal(cheek) route, is swallowing the dose due to the continuous secretion of saliva in the oral cavity. ⁣More specifically, the dosage form must not be washed away by saliva into the gastrointestinal tract.⁣

The following is how we take our tinctures:⁣.

⁣1.) 3000mg/30ml TRUE FUSION 100mg/ml. – dose 0.5 ml (1/2 dropperful) twice daily = 100mg/day hold under tongue for 1minute to optimize absorption⁣.⁣

2.) 1500mg/30ml product TRUE BLISS 50mg/ml. – dose 0.5ml – 1.0 ml twice to three times daily. 25mg to 50mg , 2-3 times a day. 0.5ml=(1/2 dropperful) hold under tongue for 1minute to optimize absorption⁣.⁣

3.) 750mg /30ml product TRUE WELLNESS 25mg/ml. – dose 1 ml up to 2 ml in the evening for restful sleep. 0.5 ml = (1/2 dropperful) hold under tongue for 1minute to optimize absorption.⁣

FAQ: Is CBD Effective Topically?

CBD topical application is considered the latest breakthrough in managing joint pain and inflammation. Together with its highly effective pain relieving properties, it possesses systemic absorption as well. ⁣

⁣CBD is absorbed through the skin where it binds to the body’s own CB2 receptors. Once it connects with these receptors, CBD has a pain relieving and anti- inflammatory effect on the body at the site of application.⁣

While CBD is popping up in many topical products, it’s not the only phyto-chemical within the cannabis plant to pay attention to. There are a lot of beneficial cannabinoids within cannabis, and our body has an entire system that regulates them. All of this comes into play when you slather the plant’s broad or full spectrum extracts on your skin.⁣ For example, THC has been shown to be 20 times more anti-inflammatory than aspirin and 2 times more anti-inflammatory than hydrocortisone.

The spectrum of cannabinoids work in concert more efficiently and effectively on these receptors than one on its own—hence it’s good to look for the whole plant’s extract infused with the plant’s helpful terpenes such as our True Natural Oils lotion or Golden Bee Hemp Pain Salve available here.

Topical CBD was also found effective in alleviating the symptoms of the following conditions: oxidative stress on dermal cells, skin conditions characterized by inflammation and keratin disorders, such as eczema or atopic dermatitis, wound healing, pain & muscle relief, itch (pruritis), Acne/Seborrhea, modulation of hair growth, skin & hair pigmentation, oral care, and other skin disorders such as antibiotic-resistant skin infections, cutaneous malignancies such as Melanoma, and Psoriatic Plaques.

In terms of Arthriits, one animal study from the European Journal of Pain reports CBD “significantly reduced” joint swelling/inflammation and pain from to arthritis when applied to skin. Additionally, CBD it is even being recommended by the Arthritis Foundation.

FAQ: Can I take CBD if I am on Opioids?

“Since opioids are the only therapy for severe pain, analgesic ability of cannabinoids may provide a much-needed alternative to opioids. Moreover, cannabinoids act synergistically with opioids and act as opioid sparing agents, allowing lower doses and fewer side effects from chronic opioid therapy. Thus, rational use of cannabis based medications deserves serious consideration to alleviate the suffering of patients due to severe pain.”⁣.

FAQ: How “Safe” is CBD?

“Several studies suggest that CBD is non-toxic in non-transformed cells and does not induce changes on food intake, does not induce catalepsy, does not affect physiological parameters (heart rate, blood pressure and body temperature), does not affect gastrointestinal transit and does not alter psychomotor or psychological functions. Also, chronic use and high doses up to 1,500 mg/day of CBD are reportedly well tolerated in humans.”⁣

CBD FAQ: Can You Build a Tolerance to CBD?

Answer: No.

In 2000, there was a study published by The Kennedy Center of Rheumatology titled, “The Nonpsychoactive Cannabis Constituent Cannabidiol is an Cral Anti-arthritic Therapeutic in Murine Collagen-induced Arthritis”. The study ends by summarizing, “all of this suggests that CBD may be valuable in the treatment of other chronic inflammatory diseases as well.”

What’s even better, this study also reports that “prolonged treatment with CBD does not induce tolerance, a phenomenon often observed by cannabinoids”. This means that in contrast to many Pharmaceuticals, you will not develop a tolerance, or a reduction in efficacy as you use Cannabinoids in the treatment of your ailments.
